St. George is simply the best! The fact that there are so many hikes around and so easily accessible is amazing! Here are 5 hikes you can do that you don’t even have to drive very far for.
Chuckwalla Trail – 1.7 miles total. Easy hike that leads to Turtle wall and back. Beautiful scenery and easy for kids to do. Located off SR-18 right after snow canyon parkway. (This one does cost $5 to hike)

Owen’s Loop – 2.1 miles round trip. Takes you to a beautiful loop that overlooks Santa Clara, Red Hills Golf Course, and St George. You can start at either Dixie Rock or Brooks Nature Park. Moderate climb, but we love to go as far as we can with our kids.

Sandstone Quarry – .8 miles total. Easy hike that takes you to a Sanstone quarry behind the Red Hills Golf course. So pretty and great for kids getting used to the idea of hiking! Park on 700 W off of Diagonal Street to get to the trailhead.

Aspiration Trail– 2.4 miles total. Relatively moderate with a steep climb up. Lined with painted rocks donated by hikers and community members. Amazing views of the southern side of St George. Located off the Desert Color Exit.

Temple Quarry – 2.3 miles total. Located on Donalee Dr near Tech Ridge. Relatively flat trail that takes you to a rock quarry where they used to get rocks for the foundation of the LDS Temple. Beautiful mountainside views and great for kids! We’ve found a couple desert tortoise hiking before, so keep an eye out for it!

We love all of these, they’re so much fun to do! Which ones have you done? Which is your favorite?
